Yagi Typhoon Relief Efforts

Throughout September 2024, KBZ Bank branches, employees, and networks of domestic and international partners are working to provide effective aid to people in flood-affected areas across Myanmar.

To ensure timely and effective support, 100 bank branches have been designated as emergency assistance centers; with each branch providing 100 million kyats to assist flood-affected regions nationwide. Bank employees and local communities are working hand-in-hand to deliver aid promptly across all flood-affected areas.

Initially, rescue operations will be prioritized, with secondary plans focusing on recovery efforts. Due to heavy rain on September 9, 2024, ready-to-eat food items, canned foods, bottled water, electrolytes, and essential medicines, as well as clothing and sanitary products, will be distributed to the most severely affected areas such as Aung Pan, Kalaw, Shwe Nyaung, Nyaung Shwe, Inlay, Tat Kone, Yamethin and Pyaw Bwal. Delivery will be made swiftly using relevant vehicles starting from September 10, 2024.

Mobile kitchens will be set up to provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner for areas where cooking is difficult. Additionally, in flood-affected villages, monetary support will be given through KBZPay to nearby unaffected villages to provide meals.

KBZ Bank employees across branches nationwide are actively participating in the donation efforts, including contributions of clothing, medicines, and monetary donations.

Preparation is also in place to provide timely support for potential flood risks in regions such as Bago Division, Ayeyarwady Division, and other areas.

Leveraging experiences from the nationwide floods in 2015, KBZ Bank is committed to effectively supporting and assisting with disaster relief and recovery efforts on a national level during this current flood crisis.
